This project is located on St Paul Port Authority property at the Southport Terminal. The existing deteriorated barge dock was built in the 1960’s and due for replacement. Bolander installed 800 LF of PZ- 27 sheet pile in front of the old wall. Using an excavation and demolition sequence, the new wall was connected to the existing wale / dead-man anchoring system. Bolander also installed a plate steel top cap, 2200 LF of 12” oak bumper, 39 laminated fenders, 9 kevels, 22 grouted tie-back anchors and a new barge winch system. The majority of this work was completed during the coldest and snowiest winter in recent memory. Bolander overcame numerous obstacles to ensure the barge terminal was open for business on time as the ice thawed on the Mississippi.
