South Minneapolis Regional Service Center was a best value public bid to construct a 4 story building with 2 stories of underground parking within 5-ft of an occupied building. Bolander proposed a value engineering alternate to the project providing over $1M of savings. Our scope included:
- Select demolition of the existing building
- Removal and disposal of over 20,000-ton of environmentally impacted soil
- Drill and set 50-ft H-Pile with 10-ft bedrock embedment within 5-ft of an occupied building
- Permanent H-Pile and Lagging system
- 25-ft vertical face
- Designed to support both occupied building and soil pressure loads
- Designed to act as a one-sided form for the proposed building
- Temporary H-Pile and Lagging system
- Micropile foundations to prevent differential settlement
