In 2014 the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum solicited bids to construct a new 1-mile road connecting the Arboretum’s popular 3-Mile Drive to a future Bee Discovery educational building. The proposals came in over budget largely due to poor soil quality in the road alignment.
To save the project, we leveraged our experience in the latest construction design, techniques and materials to propose Value Engineering solutions that would save the project over $350,000. These savings not only brought the project back into budget but also allowed the University to reinvest the savings into other site amenities.
