Bolander provided a variety of services for the revitalization of this historic 33 acre transit center originally constructed in 1881.

Bolander work included:

  • Excavated over 50,000 CY of material
  • Exported over 20,000 tons of contaminated soil
  • 100’ deep hollow-bar design-build micropiles which at the time was believed to be the deepest use of this application in North America. Conducted load tests to verify micropile capacity
  • Drove 850 pipe piles
  • Installed 4,000 CY of geofoam
  • Design-build H-pile and lagging earth retention to support a rail embankment using Cooper E80 live loading criteria
  • Coordinated structural requirements to utilized large equipment on a 14’ high, 80-year old reinforced concrete deck
  • Coordinated all work while adjacent to 3 active rail lines
  • Completed subgrade preparation and sheet pile earth retention for rail spurs
