Overview
In April 2025, McGough Construction awarded Bolander the contract for site removals, building demolition, earthwork, and utility installation for the new Dunseith Land Port of Entry facility. The project is located approximately 13 miles north of Dunseith, North Dakota, at the U.S.–Canada border crossing adjacent to the International Peace Garden.
Bolander commenced this project in May 2025. The work involves the phased demolition of the existing border crossing facility, followed by construction, continuing through 2027, of a new Main Inspection Building, a Non-Commercial Secondary Inspection Building, a Commercial Secondary Inspection Building, and an Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS) Building.
Key project elements include approximately 60,000 cubic yards of on-site grading; import of 47,000 cubic yards (loose volume) of sand and 37,000 tons of Class 5 aggregate base; foundation excavation and backfill for all new structures; installation of 1,400 linear feet of sanitary sewer; 5,300 linear feet of 6-inch C900 watermain; and 3,300 linear feet of 12- to 36-inch storm sewer; installation of 300 linear feet of 2×4 box culvert; 450 linear feet of 48-inch CMP underground detention system; installation of a 50,000-gallon fire suppression tank; construction of stormwater retention basins and rain gardens; respreading 8,000 cubic yards of topsoil; and completion of all finish grading across the approximately 14-acre site.
